“Don’t Try It Here” says Governor Daniels

Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels signed a an anti-trafficking bill into law on Monday taking effect immediately. The law provides more robust legislation strengthening law enforcement’s ability to prosecute traffickers. Furthermore, the law removes the requirement that prosecutors prove that force, or threat of force, was used to coerce children into sexual exploitation.

As of this post, no arrests on human trafficking charges have been made, but Indiana law enforcement have been trained to look out for signs of trafficking and now have a stronger legal backing to their efforts. In past years, a spike of exploitation and trafficking has been reported surrounding the Superbowl events. With more law enforcement, media, and public awareness I hope to see more solid information regarding these reports come to light.

Relentless will post a follow up to the Superbowl and reports of exploitation and trafficking related to the event. Stay tuned!
